Northumberland is a county of outstanding rugged beauty, dramatic open moorland and some of the most picteresque stretches of coast the British isles have to offer and luckily for us it is in Skedaddle's back garden!

When you also consider the history of Neolithic tribes, early Christianity, the Normans and the Roman Empire it is easy to see the appeal Northumberland has, with its network of cycle routes linking many of its highlights together into one fantastic cycle holiday.  

Our cycle holiday route begins at Hadrian’s Wall, built by a Roman Emperor in AD122 to mark the boundary of their empire. After views of Roman forts, we cycle through pine forests and moorland into the dramatic valleys below the Cheviot Hills, passing through the market towns of Rothbury, Wooler and Berwick upon Tweed. For the final two days of the cycling holiday, we turn southwards and cycle down the beautiful sandy coastline past the Norman castles of Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, and Dunstanburgh.
