Similar to our Holland Green Heart Cycling Holiday, Gentle Green Heart is an easier paced cycling holiday, during which you won’t be cycling more than around 40kms a day and allowing plenty of time visit museums, enjoy a spot of café culture, relax by a lake or enjoy a wander around the historic towns you’ll be cycling through. This is a great cycling holiday for those looking to take it very easily and for families alike.

Beginning in Amsterdam, you’ll soon be following the river Amstel and passing through Vreeland, Loenen and Nieuwersluis, before reaching the charming town of Breukelen. Next we head via Kinderdijk to Rotterdam. Kinderdijk has the largest group of windmills in the Netherlands and it’s well worth taking a break from your cycling here.

From Delft we cycle to Wassenaarse Slag and the old fishing village of Katwijk aan Zee, as we follow the course of the 'Old Rhine'. Mid-week and we are now in the lake district, with your ride now taking you beside windmills, meadows, farms and picturesque villages. Next stop is Haarlem, followed by the delightful hamlet of Zaanse Schans and its weatherboard architecture before we return to Amsterdam.

Your moving accommodation for the week is on a specially designed barge/boat, where you will be able to share experiences of the day with the other cyclists. During the day route descriptions are provided and you are free to explore at your own pace.
