Laos and Cambodia - Mellow Mekong - Cycling Holiday

The majestic Mekong is the backdrop for this gentle cycling holiday in Laos and Cambodia. We meander through the backroads of a historical and unique landscape as our cycling holiday flows past a series of natural, cultural and historical wonders.

The start of our cycling holiday in Laos is the town of Pakse. Having had a relaxing introduction, we cycle to the UNESCO world heritage site at Wat Phou and then continue to the former ancient city and old French colonial town of Champassak.

After time exploring this charming town we transfer onto the island of Don Daeng for our evenings accommodation, where you can relax with a drink and enjoy the sunset over the Mekong and the Wat Phou temple. We visit the Xe Pian National protected area, home to wild elephants and birds such as Giant Ibis and several hilltribes. Our last full day of cycling holiday in Laos takes us to the southern most part and one of the natural jewels of the Mekong river, the 4000 Islands.

Crossing into Cambodia we cycle through a countryside of small villages, green fields and forests. As we travel south, the scenery of the Mekong becomes more dramatic. At Phnom Han Chay, it’s well worth the climb to the top of this hill as the views over the Mekong are superb.

After a relaxing day exploring Phnom Penh we transfer and cycle to Siem Reap, our base as we explore the amazing complex of Angkor Wat. It’s a special way to end a special holiday.
