Our two-wheeled cyling holiday through the dramatic and hidden depths of Northern Thailand, and a region doused in ancient culture, flavours and colours. Riding out from Chiang Mai, a beautiful city we cycle northwards following the Mae Ping River to finish in Chiang Rai.

Using a mix of backroads and dirt roads we pass through amazing countryside, peppered with paddy fields, and surrounded by mountains for much of the way. Our journey leads us through Chiang Dao National Park, and around the Mae Salong mountain region, where we take a half-day boat journey and then trek to a hill tribe village, before spending the night in a riverside lodge.

Along the way we visit some of the most dramatic temples in Thailand, including Chiang Rai’s stunning white temple. Heading eastwards we ride through a countryside lined with stilt houses and on to the Golden Triangle region the Mekong River and the World Heritage site of Chang Saen. Following the Laos border along the Mekong we move further south to Chiang Khong, before continuing through the flat countryside to end our journey with yet more fine Thai cuisine in Chiang Rai.
